To The Land …

Up, up and away

to the land of Oz

where the rainbow arches

across the canvas of the sky.

Skippy the kangaroo

hippity hop in the bush

koalas munching gum leaves

colourful feathered rosellas

flitting from stringybarks to ti-trees

eucalyptus varieties

Campers fishing

by the meandering river

tents pitched nearby

when day fades to nightfall

a campfire is built

friends merrily sing-along favourites

Love’s old sweet song.

  1. A lovely poem that takes me on a journey I would not have otherwise taken. the problem I always find with camping is that I can never find the electrical sockets to plug in my hair dryer….

    • I’m glad you could capture those moments and enjoy this adventure. Some campsites have electrical hook-up points to the tents. Happy … or let the breeze blow through while you sing-along by the campfire! Thank you, Cynthia. 🙂

  2. Sing along with me now: “Skippy, Skippy. Skippy the bush Kangaroo…”

  3. Beautiful Iris… Such a captivating poetic imaginary!…
    Thanks for sharing ❤
    Best wishes, Aquileana 😀
