Simply Poetry

About

Having lived and worked in Australia, UK and Malaysia, the rugged country, scenic landscape, flora and fauna of these countries have had much influence and inspiration on my poetry. Their rich heritage and culture are written about in some of these poems. An appreciation of poetry and literature, the creative and performing arts along with observations of daily life have also broadened my creativity.

As a health professional, my work with people from various walks of life is both challenging and engaging. There is much need to listen to, understand, encourage and empathise with people.

This platform gives me the opportunity to share some thoughts, reflections and experiences with you.

Thank you for your interest and time here, it’s much appreciated.

I’m originally from a tropical island which inspires much of my poetry, so I understand how scenery and landscape can influence your work. However, I now live in a frigid country and the contrast could not be greater. So my poetry veers between the two 🙂

As my work involves working with people from all walks of life, it is interesting for me to understand different ethnic groups. Delighted that you have liked some of my poems and related to them. 15. Dear Iris, I am wondering if this would be of interest to you. My nephew is in this production which will be in Singapore in late May. He sometimes takes the lead of Javert. http://www.sistic.com.sg/events/mis0716 I have not seen the production myself but I believe it is excellent.

    • Glad to hear from you, Gallivanta. I have looked at the link and would be interested to see this production of Les Mis in Singapore. I have also seen the production of this musical at London’s West End. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The family must be proud of your nephew playing a lead role in this musical.
      A Blessed Easter. Love, Iris.

  17. What a gorgeous blog you have, and I really love your heart–that desire to “listen” to people; as I think the world would be a better place if we all felt someone would “just listen”, make some small effort to know and understand who we are. God bless you.

    • Thank you for reading and for your gracious words. Your comment is deeply appreciated. In my work, listening plays an integral part. This helps to show that we care when we take time to listen to them. We communicate better and establish a good rapport with them. You are welcome to drop by anytime and it’s a delight to have you here. 🙂 Kind regards, Iris.

I couldn’t find a contact page, so I’m posting this here:

My name is Victoria Grace Howell. I blog at Wanderer’s Pen (storitorigrace.blogspot.com). I’m currently running a big series where I interview people from around the world to promote international diversity, break stereotypes, and make a crash course for writers. I’ve interviewed people from over 35 countries so far. I noticed you’ve lived in Malaysia, and I’d love to have you on the project. I’ll also promote your blog in the post. How it works is I send you a document with questions and then you send it back with your answers. You can check out one of the latest posts in the series so you’ll get an idea of what yours would look like: http://storitorigrace.blogspot.com/2017/02/so-your-character-is-from-finland.html Would you be interested in this?

Thanks so much for your time!
