An Indifferent Sky

Once a field of water

surrounding the bay

Now the fishing trawlers

lie still

A fisherman gaze at

the barren sea

wondering …

what little …

there’s left

~

The village deserted

Haze hovers over the hills

But a moment of beauty

as rain clouds part

the moon peeps

a rainbow of hope

across the indifferent sky

And Yet …

Haze

for there is

no rain for days …

There is no

sight of sun …

~

The air is still

the haze stands

to attention

while birds

sing no song

~

Hills silent

no longer green

and yet, and yet …

even from

the blanket of pollution

a new sun can rise …
